Have you recently purchased one of the new Google laptops, yet don’t know what all you can do on it? Are you expecting to have some real fun with your new computer, yet you have no idea how? Well, maybe this interesting new music video from the pop-rock band and YouTube sensation, OK Go, will help you figure out a little of what your Chromebook is capable of. Made from none other than Google Chrome, OK Go’s project may help to spark some interest in the web browser. And since the Chromebook was designed specifically as a Chrome laptop, you may find your new favorite thing to do on your Google laptop yet.
All is Not Lost
all is not lost OK Go Says OK, Google!
With such unique, viral, and overall outrageous videos such as Here it Goes Again and This Too Shall Pass, it’s no wonder OK Go would come up with yet another crazy music video for us to feast our eyes on. Well…while it does have a music video, OK Go’s new visual wonder is more appropriately called an interactive experience. Their new video/interactive experience, All is Not Lost, is an HTML5 collaboration OK Go did with the dance troupe and choreographers known as Pilobolus, and Google, and involves them (minus Google) being filmed through a clear floor, creating various letters, numbers, and shapes, mainly with their hands and feet.
And you know what the most fun part about the whole thing is? You can write what they do! That’s right – on the website for this interactive experience, through the magic of the internet, you can type out messages for them to create. After creating your message, all you have to do is sit back and watch the video unfold on your beautiful new Chrome laptop. Well…if that’s what you’re using (and you should be)…
The Power of Chrome
Of course, OK Go made it quite clear how much they support Google’s browser when they made this experience exclusive for Chrome. Of course, if you went out and bought a Chromebook, this would be the least of your worries, but if you don’t use Chrome, and don’t want to (for whatever reason), then OK Go actually has a pre-recorded version of the video. I guess you could call it the song’s official music video.
Another little tidbit of information: this interactive experience is actually possible by using various Chrome windows, which move, re-size, and re-shape throughout the whole video. And because of the canvas technology HTML5 has, the video actually matches the song perfectly. If you have a Chromebook, or are planning on getting one of these Google laptops, it’s recommended that you check out all the things that HTML5, but more specifically, Chrome, allows you to do.
Final Words
Do you remember that devastating Tōhoku earthquake that struck Japan earlier in 2011? Well, OK Go actually made this project with Google Japan, suggesting the use of the project, appropriately titled All is Not Lost, as a message of support to the Japanese people. So if you don’t want to get a Chrome laptop or just start using Google Chrome for any other reason, at least check out this experience. The official site can be found here: allisnotlo.st
